Chris' Best Of End Of Times 2020

Well, It's New Year's Eve 2020 AKA End Of Times and It's that time of year for me to put in my two cents worth related to what I thought were some of the best albums of 2020.  This year was especially stressful due to Covid-19, working in mental health, and my girlfriend working as nurse throughout this pandemic.  Music has always been and will always be my go to coping skill in life, especially when everything seems really shitty and out of control.  Hopefully everyone is safe and looking forward to seeing shows again soon! (hopefully at some point in 2020!) Strangelight is a four piece band from Oakland, CA who formed in 2019, from the looks of things.  Strangelight features members of Kowloon Walled City, Trap Them, Transistor, Transitor, etc, so going on that alone, you know you're in for something truly special.  Strangelight play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, hardcore, post punk, punk, garage rock, and noise rock within their sound.  Musically, Strangelight can be loosely compared to bands such as Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, Light The Fuse And Run, Dangers, Single Mothers, Burning Love, Buyer's Remorse, The Suicide File, and other like-minded bands.  Adult Themes is the band's debut full-length LP, which was released on October 23rd, 2020.  On Adult Themes, Strangelight offer up ten tracks of tense, angular, and frenetic post hardcore, hardcore, post punk, garage rock, and noise rock.  Overall, Adult Themes makes for an amazing listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Self Titled/Bad At Parties is the band's latest release which was released  via Cult Of Nine records and via The Ghost Is Clear records on December 13th, 2020.   Self Titled/Bad At Parties compiles both of Shadow Snakes LP and follow-up EP onto one album for your convenience. On Self Titled/Bad At Parties, Shadow Snakes offer up fifteen tracks of filthy, blown-out, and ultra negative sounding hardcore, punk, sludge, and noise rock.  Overall, Self Titled/Bad At Parties makes for an amazing listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Sleep Torture is a three piece band from Greensboro, North Carolina who formed in  2019, from the looks of things.  Sleep Torture play a vicious, scathing, and brutal as fuck style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, metal, and grindcore within their sound.  Musically, Sleep Torture can be loosely compared to bands such as Wake, Woundvac, Theories, WVRM, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2019, Sleep Torture have released a five song EP titled Take Me To The Bottom/Leave Me There in June of 2019 and a digital single titled Manifest Illness in August of 2020.  Hellscape Mandate is the band's latest EP, which was released on December 18th, 2020.  On Hellscape Mandate, Sleep Torture offer up four tracks of chaotic, volatile, and vicious as fuck sounding hardcore, punk, metal, and grindcore.  Overall, Hellscape Mandate makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Bestialis is a two piece band from Bochum, Germany who formed in 2020, from the looks of things.  Bestialis play a dark, raw, and atmospherically dense style of black metal.  Rictus is the band's debut EP, which was released via Vendetta records on November 13th, 2020.  On Rictus, Bestialis offer up four tracks of vicious, raw, and ugly sounding atmospheric black metal.  Overall, Rictus makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
