Scowl is a four piece band from Brooklyn, NYC who formed in 2010. Scowl
play a vicious and devastating style of music that blends elements of
hardcore, punk, sludge, grindcore, and powerviolence within their
sound. Musically, Scowl can be said to be influenced by bands such as
Iron Lung, Left For Dead, Haymaker, Crossed Out, Negative Approach, and
other like-minded bands. Since forming in 2010, Scowl have released a
track on the Fast//Violence compilation in May of 2013, a live cassette
recorded live at ABC No Rio titled Welcome To The Johnsons in July of
2013, a ten song EP titled Grindcore Is Serious Business in April of
2013, and a sixteen song LP titled Quemés Una Iglesia Para Encender La Mota in June of 2016. Ruthless is the band's latest nine song EP, which was released on October 18th, 2016. On Ruthless, Scowl offer up nine tracks of brutal and vicious as fuck sounding hardcore, punk, sludge, grindcore, and powerviolence. Overall, Ruthless is a makes for a really solid listen.
