Wow. This band came as a pleasant surprise. I absolutely had to review this album as soon I gave it a listen today. Small Hours Society is a four piece band from Serres, Greece who formed in 2006, from the looks of things. Small Hours Society play a dark and tense style of music that incorporates elements of shoegaze, post punk, alt. rock, and noise pop within their sound. Musically, Small Hours Society cite Wipers, 16 Horsepower, Black Heart Procession, Imaad Wasif, Nick Cave, Refused, Neurosis, Tindersticks, Sonic Youth, Shipping News, Lisabo, and 2 Way Infinite Sequences as influences, which definitely shows up in the band's sound and style. Since their inception in 2006, Small Hours Society have released a nine song LP titled Rest Your Wings/The Skies Await in January of 2006. Hunting Season is the band's latest ten song LP, which was released on March 3rd, 2016. Hunting Season features ten tracks of dark, haunting, and difficult to pigeonhole music that runs the gamut from shoegaze, post punk, alternative, rock, to noise pop and back. Overall, Hunting Season makes for a brooding, dark, and tense listen. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
