Parquet Courts is a four piece band from Brooklyn, New York who formed in April of 2010. Parquet Courts play a killer style of off-kilter, grunge influenced indie rock. Since their inception in 2010, Parquet Courts have released a full-length LP titled American Specialties in 2011, a full-length LP titled Light Up Gold in 2012, a third full-length LP titled Sunbathing Animal in 2013, and a fourth LP titled Constant Nausea in 2014. The prolific nature of Parquet Courts always gives me something to look forward to because the band's sound is constantly evolving and each release brings something new and refreshing to the table. Monastic Living is the band's latest nine song 12", which was released on November 13th, 2015 via Rough Trade records. Monastic Living is a lot different than the band's previous works because Parquet Courts delve into experimentation with psychedelia and possibly even bits of angular and distorted post punk. Overall, Monastic Living is much different then Parquet Court's previous efforts, but that by no means makes this album great in it's own right. After about my third listen, this album really grew on me. Overall, if you're a fan of Parquet Courts, you'll find something you'll like on this EP. Enjoy!
